A Tiny Whisper

Today is the day!! I’ve worked so hard on this little nugget of love to present to all of you. God works wonders in small details, as you’ll soon find out. This morning at mass I read the first reading from 1 Kings 19:9-13

At the mountain of God, Horeb,
Elijah came to a cave where he took shelter.
Then the LORD said to him,
“Go outside and stand on the mountain before the LORD;
the LORD will be passing by.”
A strong and heavy wind was rending the mountains
and crushing rocks before the LORD—
but the LORD was not in the wind.
After the wind there was an earthquake—
but the LORD was not in the earthquake.
After the earthquake there was fire—
but the LORD was not in the fire.
After the fire there was a tiny whispering sound.
When he heard this,
Elijah hid his face in his cloak
and went and stood at the entrance of the cave.

I sat there and realized: March 30th, 2017 there was a small whisper. This project started as a little mustard seed with a lot of doubt. I wanted to share God, but I didn’t know how. I’d always loved photography and thought I could be decent at writing, so with the Holy Spirit on my side and in my heart, I started A Catholic Convo. Four and a half months of taking pictures and writing whatever comes to mind regarding Jesus Christ. I decided to share this website the day I reached 500 followers on Instagram. In this reading, Elijah is waiting for the Lord to pass by. Numerous natural disasters occur, but God is not in any of them. And then this happens: “After the fire there was a tiny whispering sound.”

This small idea began as just a tiny whisper. I hope to continue seeking out the whisper of the Lord, instead of waiting for an earthquake to hear Him. Our God is a gentle God who moves mountains with a slight nudge. He is a God that blesses us every second with the calmness of wind. He is mysterious and for humans, unreachable. But through this mustard seed sized whisper, I continue to seek Him in all His majesty. And continue to learn every day.

Thank you for having an open heart. May God guide you down His path of goodness, and welcome to A Catholic Convo.
